Samsung Completes 2nd Generation 10nm FinFET Process – Get Ready for 10 Percent Greater Performance

After announcing its first-generation 10nm FinFET process, Samsung is ready to take it to the next level of fabrication by stating that it has finished the completion of the second-generation 10nm FinFET LPP process. Here are the advantages that future smartphone manufacturers will be able to experience when they start using high-performing SoCs in future mobile devices.

10nm FinFET LPP Process Boasts 10 Percent Higher Performance and 15 Percent Greater Efficiency – This Process Could Be Used to Make SoC Powering the Upcoming Note 8

In addition to being the first in the industry to complete the 10nm FinFET LPE process, the company finishes first in successfully completing the 10nm FinFET LPP process as well. In order to meet scaling demand for a wide range of customers, Samsung starting improving the manufacturing process and increasing production by installing the latest production facilities at its newest S3-line in Korea. The S3-line is expected to be up and running by the fourth quarter of this year.

Ryan Lee, Vice President of Foundry Marketing at Samsung was thrilled to announce the company’s next-generation FinFET process as he states the following:

“With our successful 10LPE production experience, we have commenced production of the 10LPP to maintain our leadership in the advanced-node foundry market. 10LPP will be one of our key process offerings for high performance mobile, computing and network applications, and Samsung will continue to offer the most advanced logic process technology.”

Since the Galaxy Note 8 will have to be a game-changing phone against Samsung’s own Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+, performance, and energy efficiency will be two of the several key factors to this success. The phablet could take advantage of the improved Exynos 8895 or Snapdragon 835 with the improved process, while even touting exclusive features of its own such as the rumored dual-camera.
